Surfactants Enhanced Heavy Oil–Solid Separation from Carbonate Asphalt Rocks-Experiment and Molecular Dynamic Simulation

چکیده

In this study, surfactants were used to enhance heavy oil–solid separation, and a detailed mechanism was explored by SARA (saturates, aromatics, resins, asphaltenes) analysis, element AFM measurement, molecular dynamic simulation. Surfactants could effectively decrease oil/solid interaction force then separation would be enhanced. The interactive in relation concentration, pH value, asphaltene content, salinity. dynamics simulation results show that the dissociation of saturated hydrocarbon, aromatic resin, (SARA) on carbonate minerals is gradually weakened for all surfactants. process surfactant stripping SARA, firstly, molecules adsorb surface molecules. After that, peels off calcite under influence thermal motion. process, will not directly adsorbed trace minerals. energy/temperature balance indicated saturates, aromatics resins remain stable when time reached 2000 ps with phenomenon liberate from totally within ps. asphaltenes 6000 ps, meanwhile, they reach energy balance/energy functional groups have interactions group, resulting different effects SARA. are consistent experiment results. effect five kinds different. accordance analysis.

Wettability Alteration of Sandstone and Carbonate Rocks by Using ZnO Nanoparticles in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Efforts to enhance oil recovery through wettability alteration by nanoparticles have been attracted in recent years. However, many basic questions have been ambiguous up until now. Nanoparticles penetrate into pore volume of porous media, stick on the core surface, and by creating homogeneous water-wet area, cause to alter wettability. This work introduces the new concept of adding ZnO nanopart...

Polyelectrolyte pKa from experiment and molecular dynamics simulation

The pKa of a polyelectrolyte has been determined experimentally by potentiometric titration and computed using Molecular Dynamics (MD) constant pH (CpH)methodology, which allows the pKa of each titratable site along the polymer backbone to be determined separately, a procedure which is not possible by current experimental techniques. By using experimental results within the CpHMD method, the si...

Thermal conductivity of methane hydrate from experiment and molecular simulation.

A single-sided transient plane source technique has been used to determine the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of a compacted methane hydrate sample over the temperature range of 261.5-277.4 K and at gas-phase pressures ranging from 3.8 to 14.2 MPa. The average thermal conductivity, 0.68 +/- 0.01 W/(m K), and thermal diffusivity, 2.04 x 10(-7) +/- 0.04 x 10(-7) m2/s, values are, re...

Characterization of Bitumen Bearing Carbonate Rocks

Several countries, including Canada, contain sizeable bitumen resources in highly fractured carbonate rocks. Any possible recovery of bitumen from these reservoirs will be highly dependent on proper understanding of the rock and fluid properties and how they vary in the reservoir. These carbonates are extremely heterogeneous, and as a result proper reservoir characterization is challenging. In ...
